Batam Trip 14-15 March

*Super long post ahead*

Finally........... I had a break away from work =) Woke up early on a Saturday Morning to begin my journey to Batam...... Destination: Turi Beach Resort.. Didnt know what to expect over there... I just know that I have alot of Ruppiah with me.. haha.......

As this is my first time to Batam, I'm naturally excited!! =)

We boarded the ferry an hour later, after clearing the custom and some waiting at the holding area.........

Mr Koh loves his camera.... haha~ Couldnt stop clicking away...

In cases of emergencies, please jump into the sea.. How creative! =P

And the ferry begins to move lo~ *pok pok pok pok*

And after an hour or so............ We reached Batam Centre! Yippee.......... The weather looks fine and sunny....... Purrfect!

Sights along the way, while we made our way to the Batam Custom, to chop passport... My first time to Batam! =)

There were alot of ppl at the queue.... I think it's because it's a Saturday..... Ppl come for a short getaway over the weekends.....

We hopped on a shuttle van which was arranged by the tour agency... to bring us to Turi Beach.... It was a good 30 mins ride... The driver, and the lady who settled the transport to and from Batam Centre for us......

Sights along the way....... I really see alot of bikes... Batam ppl are skillful riders/drivers... Really.........

Soon after............... We arrived! Welcome to Turi Beach Resort......................

We quickly made our way to our little hut.. I would say the whole decor looks vv Balinese.. Something different from all the resorts that I've been too........ It's a vv different experience..

I have one comment: The towels and bedsheets are pretty dirty....... =P But I closed one eye... haha! quickly headed out to explore the resort, before heading down to town.......

Such a lovely view........ A nice pool, cute lil huts... and a clear blue pool...........

We booked a cab to town for 100,000 Ruppiah = 13 sing dollar... 30 minutes ride.. Expensive! But we don't know how else we can get to town safely... =P

While waiting for our cabs..........

We were famished by the time we reached there... We had our lunches at ard 4pm... We dashed to the nearest fast food restaurant we saw... A&W!! =)

I had chicken strips and curly fries... and a float.. ard 4.50 sing...

We shopped around the Shopping Mall...... And it was pretty big... Clothes were not exactly cheap... But just a lil cheaper than Singapore... I bet their margins are high.. So I did not succumb to evil temptations... Refrained from buying clothes there, and spent most of our money on groceries instead.. haha! We stocked up on food/snacks/drinks at a hypermart at the basement...

Time for dinner after loitering around the mall............ Headed to this restaurant which serves western food and pizza......... We ordered this 'Double Set B' which costs 6.60 sing.. and it includes 2 coke, a garlin bread, a pasta, and 2 personal pan pizza.............. I felt like a queen... So much money and duno where to spend them on =P

But but... The pasta disappointed me alot! It tasted like it was some leftovers from days ago... Yucks... The garlic bread and pizzas were still passable though =)

We took a cab back to the resort after some bargaining with the cabbies.. They are all out to suck our money can?? Tried to continue bargaining, but decided not to do so as it was pouring quite heavily and it was pretty dark already... The return ride cost 15 sing.. I bet the cabbie is super happy... profit margin: 500%? ~!@#$%^

Finally relieved to reach our resort in one piece after the crazy taxi ride.. haha! It was raining so heavily and most of the street lamps were faulty.. But the cabbie drove like he was racing in day time.. Trust me! I'm not lying~ He would honk at every other bike he saw on the way.. It could be his 'polite' way of warning the bikes, but seriously, I was pretty amazed at his driving skills...

We alighted outside our hut and dashed fast to the door... To my HORROR! The power supply was cut off........ The hut looked super eerie in total darkness can! OMG.......... I've never felt so scared before... I've always been a fan of horror movies, but in real life, I'm such a mouse... I was so afraid I'll see a ghost in the room... standing in front/behind/beside/on my shoulders!!!! haha........ Thankfully~~ Mr Koh, of all things, brought his torch light! hee......................

I just laughed at him earlier for bringing such a funny thing on a trip...... See! My words are biting me now~ =P

So so............ After calling the recep for a few times (in which they assured help will come soon), we decided to just head out to the lobby since it's quite near to our hut... We saw many fellow singaporeans waiting there too~ I feel like I'm in Singapore all of a sudden......... haha!

So.... As usual... Mr Koh was snapping away.. Practising taking night shots with his new love.. While I played around with my self timer... haha!

Got feel de ok......... =P

Went back to our hut an hour later.. Electricity is finally back~ =) The rest of the rainy night was spent munching and watching tv................ What a relaxing life!

The next morning~ All ready to gobble the BREAKFAST BUFFET! The thing I look forward to most, for the whole trip....... haha!

What a beautiful morning~ FYI, our hut is located at the top of this vvvvvv steep slope... Doesnt look vv steep here, but trust me... Even commandos will pant when they reach the top.. haha~

Breakfast was at this vv beautiful cafe-style open air restaurant... We ate more food actually.. There was prata, omelette, porridge, pastry, cereals, fruits... But we were too hungry to shoot all the food we ate.. haha!

The restaurant was facing the big sea.............. The view was splendid.....

He cant get his hands off his new love........... Holding on so tightly to it even during breakfast... haha.........

Next, we loitered around the resort to enjoy the cool sea breeze....... and enjoying the sights and sounds before we check out............

Relaxing by the pool....... and nope, I'm not sun-tanning.. Just lying and relaxing on the pool bed... haha!

There were small lil huts located around the resort as well........... And vv luckily, we found an empty one! They were usually occupied... So we hopped in to rest on the matresses provided.. The matresses were like those we used during PE when doing sit ups? haha..

We proceed for some extreme activites after a lazy nap at the lil hut... =)

Then, we climbed to the top of some of the resorts on the other side.. These are more concrete compared to our balinese huts.. and of coz.. these costs much more... I bet they have cleaner towels..... HAHA!

Bye bye Batam! It has been a good and relaxing trip........... Though I would prefer a longer stay, so that I can explore Batam more........... haha... But it's ok~ It's a short getaway which doesnt require me to take leave from work anyways...... I would love to visit Batam again... Next time round, it would be Harris.. I wanna play bowling, spa, and massage... HAHA~ and be a queen again................

I'm missing Batam now...................

Sunny's Last Day

Today I bid farewell to one of BD's warrior... It's been 6 long months~ Work is bearable coz of Peronel, Wilson and of course Sunny~ Now.... we're one down.. maybe another down next month.. Life's like that.. People come and go isnt it? But I'm glad our paths crossed...... These people have made my working life at kallang worth looking forward too........ Now I feel like sobbing =P

Nevertheless, we headed for a pretty long lunch today... =P We were in a 'who cares' mood... HAHA! Had in house lunch coz it was pouring cows and goats.. Then we headed out to Purvis Street for Tai Tai Tea at TEA HOUSE...................... It's such a lovely cafe.. It's a cafe for the rich.. *ahem*... I'll definitely go again~ =)

It's like a shophouse... And you'll need to climb a flight of stairs to reach the cafe...

After being served with hand towels to clean our hands before we begin enjoying our tea, we were given a complimentary four seasons tea... leaves from Taiwan I heard......... Served in such intricate cups..

We ordered some snackers too............ Which was once again, served so beautifully in a longish tray.............. I felt like some princess from victorian times... =)

Happy Birthday Papa!

Today is dearest Papa's Birthday.......... This year, we got him a real big present.. haha! as compared to previous years...... And of course daddy is super elated this year, as we finally got him a digital camera =)

He has been wanting to get one since long long time ago... But alwiz insisted that his old trusty film camera (bought ages ago) is still usable and produces quality shots!.. haha... But as his good daughter, I know that deep down, he has this burning desire to own a digi cam of his own.. haha!

We had a simple zhi char dinner... like how we alwiz do during birthdays... =)

Star Studded Saturday~

Went to find Beh Beh Yi and lil Jiaxin on Saturday afternoon... Missed the lil girl~ haha...

We had an early dinner at Delifrance, where I shared a plate of spaghetti with her.. and taught her how to twirl the pasta around her fork, so it's easier to eat.. haha.. clever girl got the hang of it within minutes.. =)

We strolled around after dinner.. Lil Jiaxin wants to ride a bike and drive a car... Fierce one k...

Biker chick~ I duno what model it is.. haha... Rides used to cost 20 cents each, but now.. prices have gone up sooo much.. $1 per ride!!.. It's not even worth the money.. The ride is short and boring.. haha.. It's just a piece of plastic that moves... I should keep these rides out of sight for my kids next time.. Next time the daddy will piggy-back the kids and move vigorously, to simulate the rides.. haha!

I dashed down to meet Mr Koh after his event at the floating platform.. I really dashed... haha! to compensate the days of procrastination (I'm too lazy to jog this week) =P

He was tempting me with the names of the stars he saw at the event... Telling me how exclusive his view was... HAha.. rubbing shoulders with taiwanese stars... He told me he can 'hiong' me in... Temptation was too overwhelming... HAHA~ and indeed... I 'hionged' in... whee~~~

Heng, Jay chou wasnt there.. If not, I will die of hyperventilation.. haha.. I'm serious.. I've got a weak heart loh~

But one guy managed to make my heart skip 2 beats... haha~

The event ended with Luo Zhi Xiang belting a ballad and a vv noisy song.. which got all the girls present crazy over him.. Really crazy~ haha! Screaming at the top of their lungs.. I can only stare in shock and amazement.. =P Well, he has got the looks, the humour, the built, the overall package... but nothing abt him attracts me.. He has this "I'm-the king-of-mando-pop" kinda attitude which doesnt impress me at all... haha~ But still, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

Well, If they can get Jay Chou here, I'm sure they'll need a bigger venue.. I cant wait for his concert!!

Went chilling with PPG and Mr. Koh last friday coz it's TGIF! Woohoo~ We met after dinner and went straight to the Pump Room.. haha~ PPG loves to chill...

We were cam-whoring on the dancefloor.. haha... Some ang mohs and hei hei shu shus from ang moh country were ard us.. Basically, the dancefloor was pretty crowded..

So here goes.. *ahem*

1) I love anything green.. haha~ Since I was 12/13? I feel that green is a vv neutral colour.. Not too masculine, not too feminine.. It's a vv refreshing colour and it has a balancing/relaxing effect on me =)

2) I love flashy cars... Yes, I am an ah lian at heart, and I'm proud to announce this.. HAHA! Cars that produce sexy engine sounds make my knees weak.. They are like music to my ears.. I love to just sit along Yishun dam admiring shallow zhng cars~ *drools* My personal favourite: Black Lamborghini Gallardo~

3) I used to have vv long hair that reaches my butt when I was in Pre-School.. =) and my aunt used to tie two plaits for me everyday before I go to school... I have a huge collection of beautiful clips and hair bands/tie...

4) There was this botak boy with a mole on his face called hong quan (in Pre-School), who chased me all the way to the toilet... I don't know why... and he 'giap' my finger between the doors.. Childish boy! hmph....... =P and yes, I cried back to class... complain to my teacher... haha~

5) I used to have vv short hair... When I was in Primary one... haha! I looked like a coconut can? I remembered I cried~ coz I missed my long hair..

6) I used to eat 1 egg tart everyday, after school (Kindergarten).. coz I would pass by Tong Heng.. (the famous pastry shop at Chinatown)... Uncle would buy 1 for me everyday... haha~

7) I grew up in Chinatown.. =) That place holds a special place in my heart~

8) I fractured my right wrist when I was in Primary 6... Coz of a freak see saw accident =P And I had 2 operations to 'fix' it... It was 6 months before PSLE.. I was soooooo scared that I cannot sit for the exam can...

9) I used to hide all the canes so that mum/dad cannot find them.. HAHA! But I still love my mummy and daddy... haha~ It was all for my own good.. But I'm glad I hid the canes then...

10) I chose cedar as my first choice coz I think that their uniform is vv nice.. HAHA! Yes, I'm vv shallow...

11) I fell in love with Jay Chou when I was 15.. It has been 7 long years... haha~ I remembered that it was because of the song "龙卷风"... I think he is 'god'.................... hahahaha~

12) I chose AJC because I love their uniform......... hee~ Yes, I am once again very shallow again...

13) Parents used to buy a few chicks for me as my birthday present one year, and they returned them to the shop owner on the same day =P They were simply tooooo noisy.. haha~

14) I've been taking care of my suagus for more than a decade now~ and they are still quite violent.. haha!

15) I played GA during my netballing days... =) I love to shoot... I think playing netball is like dancing.. haha~ I love to dance in the air.. jump as high as I can to grab/steal the ball then shoot... shuang! =)

16) I hate brinjal, sardine, sashimi, octopus... Yikes! I'm not vv advenurous with food... OH YES, How can I forget durians!! I hate them.............

17) My first phone was Nokia 3210 =) A second-hand phone, passed down from my brother.. Which eventually got passed down to my sister, and unfortunately, it commited suicide from the 17th fall, outside my Beh Beh Yi's place... haha..........

18) I used to have vv short nails when I was schooling.. from Primary school to JC... coz I play netball, nails must be short.. haha~ I mean vv short.. I hate to see the white white part of the nail.. I will cut my nails every 2-3 days.. =P

19) I started having long nails when I was in uni... Angie dear introduced me to nail art.. HAHA! Then I became interested and 'hiau'... And I never had short nails ever since...

20) I am interested in Spanish (language) but never had the time/will to really master the language

21) I love all the challenging, gravity defying rides in theme parks.. haha~ the best so far was the ride I took in Japan called Fujiyama... It was the tallest coaster then... =) 100m high and the speed when gg downslope is as fast as 150km/h... OMG! love it~

22) My dream is to marry a pilot.. Who will take me to the skies, propose to me in the cockpit... HAHA!

23) I like ppl with small eyes... haha!~ I think small eyes are cute =) I wonder how it's like to see the world through their small eyes.. haha.............

24) I love new-age songs... African/ tribal songs which I don't understand.. HAHA! But I like to 'feel' the songs and get in touch with my inner senses...

25) Finally............ I love my anna sui flowers~ =)
