Start of the Tiger Year & Valentine's day =)

How did you celebrate the Chinese New Year?

I ushered the new year with my family.... at home.. HAHA! had wanted to countdown at Chinatown, like how we did last year, but couldnt coz the crowd was simply madness.. haha.. and too many of those I shan't mention.. =P

Continuing from where I left off in my previous post, we went down to Beh Beh yi's place in the evening for reunion dinner =) It was abalone and scallops galore.. haha..

We settled down after dinner and made ourselves comfortable at home.. haha..
Lil Jiaxin did too.. hahaha... on brother's lap.. =P

After the food had been digested, we decided to slowly make our way into the crowded streets of Chinatown to experience what real cny shopping is.. haha.. the view from Beh Beh yi's place is awesome.. haha.. can you see the crowds below?

Hordes of people gathered outside Spring Court, a chinese restaurant for reunion dinner.. haha.. their business was so good that night.. haha..

Me with the background view.. Both familiar and nostalgic.. Afterall, I grew up there.. I pretty much know the way around this place.. and even till now, I am near Chinatown everyday (since my workplace is not too far from there) =) hahahaha...

But the demographics has changed quite abit now.. for reasons I shant explain... =P

Continuing~ We made our way down and elbowed our way into the heart of Chinatown.. or barely there.. haha.. It was already filled to the brim at around 10pm...

People gathered on the roads which were closed that day, and secured good spots to view the performance on the stage.. haha.. one word: Madness~

Before we entered the battlefield, Daddy and Ah Qi posed for a picture with the cherry blossoms tree.. =P

Getting into the heat of action!

Daddy and Mummy spotted some cheap buys... Stall holders are slowly slashing prices already.. haha..

While the folks were shopping, the 3 kids were simply fooling around, taking pictures to mark our presence... haha..

After buying what we wanted to buy, we hurriedly headed for the nearest exit for some badly needed fresh air.. HAHA! it was super humid and stuffy.. I could feel drops of perspiration trickling down my back.. haha.. We needed to replenish the fluids lost and also, to cool down from the heat.. =P

We had desserts at the food centre! =) hahaha..

we headed to the tented area, and decided to avoid the crowds in the lanes... haha.. it would have been more enjoyable if there were lesser people, and lesser people who cannot seem to control their voicebox =P haha...

Nevertheless, the Lim family will still pose for a picture together to commemerate the day =)

Mummy is not looking into the cam =P

And we countdown to CNY in a simple but comfortable fashion at home =) *firecrackers*

Year of the Tiger starts.....

We went to the temple on CNY day 1~ can you see the 'god of fortune' in front of brother? haha... HUAT ARH!

Coincidentally, it was Valentine's Day too! =) and I met Mr Koh in the evening after a whole morning+afternoon of visiting and collecting hong baos.. haha...

We had brewerkz~~~

Not many shops and restaurants were opened for business that day, but thankfully brewerks opened its doors and we had a hearty dinner before we headed over to River hongbao! =)

With my Tiger =) I'm 24 already.... oh dear... but I should be happy now! coz I've not even reached my prime.. hahahaha...

Us with the floating platform...

The tiger mountain! haha... so many tiger 'lanterns'...

And we saw our idol too! *grab the ingots!* hahaha...

"I pray for a bag of money in front of my bed every morning, Thank you!*

Fortune God replied: "Your wish is granted"

I proceeded to the wishing well and tried to hit the bells with my 3 miserable 5 cent coins... To think that I could shoot fairly well during my netball days, I wasted 15 cents that night.. =P

We just can't get enough of God of Fortune! hahaha...

And of course, Happy Valentine's Day to you my Valentine~ =)

Day 2 was my family's turn to host relatives.. and Mummy + Daddy prepared a sumptious spread! haha... Let the pictures tantalise your tastebuds..

There's abalone, alot of seaweed chicken, daddy's signature chicken wings with XO.. haha... mushrooms with lotsa dried scallops.. bak kwa~ and the list goes on! How not to get fat during cny.. haha...

There were more pictures taken during the past few days of cny, but they're just everywhere~ Nevertheless, it was a happy CNY! and as usual, the holidays are never enough............. =(

Here's a rousing good cheer for the prosperous year ahead! May good health, luck and fortune surround everyone....... *新年快乐*

WeiShi can bake!

Went for department team-bonding last week and all of us became skillful bakers all of a sudden.. haha!
The man with the hat is the master baker.. I don't like him.. coz he made us wash the dishes and clear the mess when we're done.. I thought we only do that in school.. haha.. we pay them to wash the dishes ourselves =P

Bakers in action.. haha..

Our masterpiece! and it's very edible.. hahaha...

Full of artistic flair.. I'm so proud of myself.. I don't have an oven at home.. so I rarely bake things.. so, can you imagine how proud I was with this creation? HAHA...

Met up with my xpress colleagues for dinner that night~ at Chilli padi nonya cafe.. for buffet dinner.. hee... Long time no see~ Yay to gatherings! haha.. We ate ourselves silly! and chatted non stop.........

Samuel and Catherine.. all vv shy =P

Pretty Peronel (who has slimmed down alot after giving birth).. and Joseph.. haha..

We adjourned to Chinatown after dinner for a short stroll, as well as to bring Catherine around before she goes back to China.. haha.. Just to soak in the festive mood.. It's almost CNY! and it's my 5th time to Chinatown in 2 weeks... hahahha =P

I think I'm chinatown-poisoned.. haha!

We spotted this cat with beautiful tiger stripes.. haha.. The owner was telling us this cat has become famous overnight.. attracting curious stares and camera flashes every night.. HAHA!

One more week to CNY~ =)

Me and music time...

Alot of events happened during the past few weeks... too much to write, too little time, and too difficult to post pictures up to blog about those events... hee! This makes me lazy to blog.. but nevertheless, I still have some things to pen down here... =)

Had the luxury to spend some quality time with my MP3.. It's difficult to describe how music has played an integral part in my life, but it's really nice to just detatch myself from the bustling crowd, set aside some alone time to connect with the music..

Was listening to an old collection of songs I used to love when I was still schooling.. some years back already.. I blasted the music and it was surprisingly enjoyable! I'd loved "Tokyo Drift" by Teriyaki boyz back then, and I'm still loving it now.. Brought back some memories, and I suddenly recalled why I like that song.. haha.. reminded me of my growing up years, and it made me realise how much I've grown.. and indeed time flies..

新年要来了~

To be exact, 虎年 is coming.. haha.. And it is especially meaningful and exciting for me coz it's my year~ I can still remember how elated I was when it was the year of the tiger 12 years ago =) haha.. Not that my favourite animal is the Tiger, but it's nice to know that your zodiac gets all the limelight this year.. haha...

So after 12 years~ (so much has happened, and look how much I've grown - I hope not horizontally) haha... It's 虎年 again! *claps*

Naturally, decorating my office and home before the new year arrives has become a must-do for me every year.. haha... and I've enjoyed doing it since young..

Look what I've got for my office desk.. HAHA! A ferocious looking tiger to ward off all evils... hahaha.. (and arrows =P) heee... no lah, it's for decoration purposes, seriously.. haha..

fierce ba~ =P

Went CNY shopping with my loved ones at Chinatown too =) haha.. I went there 3 times in 2 weeks, and I forsee more shopping trips there as the new year approaches.. haha.. People say you've never really experienced CNY until you've visited Chinatown during the festive season.. haha.. And it's undeniably true! =) A big fan of Chinatown, ME.. will definitely be chionging the streets again during New Year's eve.. haha.. grab all the discounted new year goodies and catch the display of fireworks and firecrackers.. haha..

What a way to usher in the new year.. MY YEAR! =) *roar*... haha...

Anyway, the Lim family went down to Chinatown last sunny Sunday to shop.. haha.. the folks have been there the day before, and are still loving it.. haha..

The crowd was still manageable that weekend, and it was nice walking down the lanes.. immersing ourselves in the festive mood...

See that smirk! haha..

Say hello to the God of Fortune....

Red and Gold are the auspicious colours for cny.. haha..

posing in front of the tooth relic temple.. which has become more commercialised over the years.. i feel~

With mummy~ =)

Went down again another evening with Mr Koh.. haha.. and I did my shopping for cny decorations! =)

Look what I've got! A pair of lil tigers which looks like rats to me.. haha... like they say, "lao hu, lao shu, sha sha fen bu qing chu" =P

Posing in front of Chinatown point~ =) all ready to welcome the new year...

*drumroll*
