21 Things That Make You Better Than Other Women (by Chelsea Fagan)

Saw this article on Thought Catalog, written by Chelsea Fagan, and I can't agree more with.. A great article that pretty much sums up my thoughts as well~

My thoughts after reading the article: If you are born a woman, be one with substance and one that people will look up to! Great article..

21 Things that make you better than other women (by Chelsea Fagan)

1. Not twerking or shaking your ass in the club, because you have intellectual prowess and therefore no need for such base demonstrations of sexual value. Come on, you’re not a stripper.

2. Actively looking down on women who do twerk or shake their ass in any capacity, because that means that they have nothing else to offer the world.

3. Not having time for such frivolities as skin care, or hair products — you are too busy reading books, thinking important thoughts, and looking pensively out your living room window.

4. Drinking tea, as everyone knows that coffee is the nectar of dead-behind-the-eyes extroverts, and tea is the balm of the misunderstood soul.

5. When it comes to going out, drinking whiskey. You have no time for the banality of a “vokka cran” or any of those fruity drinks that mask the alcohol taste for the weaker palates of Other Girls.

6. Hanging out mostly with guys, because women are “catty,” “bitches,” and “drama starters.”

7. Having a career that you perceive to be demanding and worthy, and which allows you to look down on women who you feel have made choices that are “degrading” or “taking us back 50 years.”

8. Not wearing makeup, because you are all about ~natural beauty~, and women who paint their faces are either doing so exclusively for male approval, or hiding who they really are inside because they don’t have enough self-love.

9. Dressing conservatively, because you don’t need to show off your body to be appreciated. You are not some fake whore.

10. Actively looking down on women who are sex workers or in the sex industry, because you know that if they really wanted to, they could be doing something good with their lives that you approve of.

11. Judging mothers for selling themselves short in order to live vicariously through their gross children. As we all know, the only life worth living is one that is centered on professional fulfillment and fills in the cracks with sporadic family time.

12. Making fun of the “attention whores” who post selfies or new profile pictures often in order to get validated from people who don’t actually care about them.

13. Putting a very high premium on the purity of your own sexuality, at the expense of all the women around you whose sexuality you perceive to be attacking yours. When they sleep around, you think, it’s a black mark on all of us that must be shamed.

14. Keeping tabs on the way your female friends are living their lives in a way you don’t with your male friends.

15. Not liking romantic comedies because, come on, they’re chick flicks — your sense of humor is way beyond that.

16. Making fun of other women for liking things you deem “shallow,” “stereotypically girly,” or “pointless.”

17. Reading a lot of books, because there is a high chance that if you are reading a lot of books, most other girls aren’t. This makes you different and, of course, superior to all the women who surely only invest in a Kindle to skim through 50 Shades.

18. Writing. Because it makes you complicated and interesting and nuanced.

19. Not going to the club, because that is where stupid girls who can’t offer anything else in society go to feel like they are worth something and bask in the attention.

20. Policing other women on what femininity means to them as, much like Highlander, there can only be One Perfect Definition Of Womanhood.

21. Being a virgin, but still giving blowjobs. I mean, you’re wife material, but you’re not a prude.

My Birthday!

An annual affair~ to celebrate the day I stepped onto Earth.. No hiding that I've officially turned 27, slowly creeping into the '30's' group.. Haha! Years ago, I remembered myself as being very excited whenever my birthday was approaching, and I can't wait to blow off the candles on my birthday cake every year.. Haha.. In short, I can't wait to grow up!

Now that I'm all grown up physically (I already see little signs of aging.. Haha), birthdays bring a different meaning to me =) I'm thankful for every birthday spent with people that matter to me, and more appreciative of each day that I'm given.. It sounds cliche, but it's important not to take each day, anything or anyone for granted.. And live each day as if it was your last and make it count!

I shall slowly recall the celebrations that I had with my loved ones =)

Had an early celebration with my family over at sushi tie.. Brought the folks over to vivocity to try out some nice jap cuisine.. Haha

My dearest parents~
Xmas tree is up already!

-----------------------

On the eve and actual birthday, Mr Koh had thoughtfully planned days of good food and activities for celebration.. Haha! Thank you for feeding me so well, I think I've gained a few kilos =p

We headed to the SEA aquarium on my birthday eve! To say hi to the fishes.. Haha..

But it was packed with people.. It was eve of hari raya haji

Then it was a lovely dinner at this quiet restaurant tucked in a little corner of Equarius hotel.. Tangerine is the name of the restaurant~ they serve healthy and nutritious food, in a semi fine-dining setting.. I highly recommend this! The food is flavourful and is healthy at the same time =)

Hungry already~
Getting ready to feast!

Toured the museum with chambermaid Phil! Haha
Headed over to boathouse at Fullerton waterfront for dinner! Good food again.. Haha..

Siem Reap Adventure!

Time just whizzed by so quickly.. Can't believe October is almost over~ why does time pass so fast as you get older? =p

It's been almost a month since we came back from our amazing trip to Siem Reap.. Not the usual comfy vacation, but it was definitely one with many beautiful memories.. An unforgettable adventure! =)

Day 1:

Looking fresh and excited at Changi Airport

We stopped for a short transit at KL (my first time there!), before reaching Siem Reap in the early afternoon..

Yay! We've reached Siem Reap!

I must say I'm pretty impressed with Siem Reap's international airport.. It's clean, spacious and efficient too.. Though it's small I'm sure it will expand gradually, as Siem Reap opens itself to tourism..

The famous pub street!

We didn't do much on the first day, checked into our hotel, and it rained intermittently as we were exploring the streets and areas around our hotel.. Had to familiarize ourselves with the landmarks around coz our hotel would be 'home' to us for 3 nights.. Haha!

We booked our Tuk Tuk for the next 2 days (12 usd each day) of temple exploration, at the tourist centre which we randomly stumbled upon.. Haha.. Quite lucky I must say =) we got ourselves some maps too!

Dinner was at Pub street and we had their Cambodian BBQ and cheap beer that costs 0.5 usd only! It was our staple drink every night.. Haha.. Did some massage, shopping too, but there weren't much to buy~ bought some t shirts, print pants, souvenirs etc.

Day 2:

Road to Angkor wat!

It's a must see attraction! Angkor wat.. That's what we were there for.. Met our chubby Tuk Tuk driver at 8am and off we went.. Haha.. Just like what I saw on national geographic, Angkor wat is beautiful.. The amount of stones stacked onto each other, intricate carvings and huge land mass.. This is a man-made marvel.. Though it was hot and sunny, I'm glad the weather was kind enough and it didn't rain when we were exploring ang kor wat and the other temples we went later that day..

Entrance to angkor wat
Start of my messy hair days =p
So mysteriously beautiful

Angkor wat is so beautiful I had to take so many selfies on my phone.. Haha! Every piece of stone had a 'character' to it.. Stones were in different shades of grey, green and brown (possibly due to erosion or algae growth over the years) and they made the temple look so magnificent!

Posing with the peak of Angkor wat
Us with Angkor wat... Checked!
We proceeded to other temples after that..

Beautiful Bayon
Next stop.. Ta Phrom.. Also known as the jungle temple, more commonly known as the tomb raider temple.. Haha
Us at Ta phrom!
Battle between the nature and stones..
Dinner was back at Pub street again.. Haha.. And massage too!

Day 3:
We woke up early and met our chubby and friendly driver again.. Oh ya, his name is Ling.. Haha before I forget =p
Us in Tuk Tuk!
By the second day of temple visiting, we almost cannot remember the names of the temple visited.. But the temples are still beautiful, and if you observe closely, each temple has it's own 'flavour' and story to tell~
Special mention to this beautiful temple (Sadly I'm not sure of the name, but it's located at the outer circuit).. Which was submerged in water when we visited, maybe coz it rained earlier so water levels were higher.. Even the boardwalk leading to the temple was submerged.. Haha.. But that made the experience even more interesting!
Feels like walking on water =p
Lovely reflections
We visited some other temples in the afternoon, but I don't have the pictures with me now (it's in my digital camera).. But they are one of our favourites too.. They are pretty deserted maybe coz it's located at the peripherals (or outer circuit) of the temple region.. they look abit like pyramids, with lighter coloured stones, yellowish-orange.. Great place to take pictures!

There are always little children waiting outside the temples selling souvenirs like fridge magnets and postcards.. They can be pretty clingy, begging you to buy souvenirs from them.. Some are real good salesperson too.. I did buy some fridge magnets from a sweet little girl eventually (though many times I resisted).. Even though I know the magnets were overpriced, seeing her smile made my heart melt, made my 2 usd so much more meaningful.. Kids in Singapore are really fortunate, there's proper schooling, nice clothes and food to eat.. Compared to the kids in Cambodia, we should really be appreciative of life and know how fortunate we are..

Day 2 of temple visiting ended early and we headed back to our hotel for a quick shower before heading back to a Pub street again! Since it's our last night, we treated ourselves to good food.. Haha

Bustling night life
Cheers!

Day 4: Home sweet home!

We came back a shade tanner, more knowledgable, recharged and most importantly more appreciative of life and what we have =)

Till then!
