Day out with the birdies~

It's Jurong Bird Park day again! Thanks to the lucky me who balloted for the corporate pass and got it =)

It was another rainy afternoon, and we braved the rain to reach the ulu west of Singapore.. But thankfully it stopped in time for us to stroll around the park comfortably~

Different from the last few visits, we bought tickets for the panorail ride this time round coz I had some free vouchers to spare.. Hee! It's air conditioned~ which made the ride so much more enjoyable =p sadly, the ride was short and we could only ride round the park once..

Nevertheless, the birdies were still the same.. Perhaps, a few inches taller and wider =p maybe some could even recognise us, since we're regulars to the park.. Haha

There's a new water playground for kids too~ if I were a kid, I would definitely soak myself in all the water, colours and fun =)

Another lovely day out, safe in mother nature's (and the birdies') embrace!

Touched by a kind soul~

This post is dedicated to a lady whom has touched my heart in a very simple way =)

There is a lady whom my parents and I know working at the Sheng Shiong desserts stall opposite my place, by the name of 'ah keow'.. A very simple and amiable lady, with a big heart of gold~

I know little about her actually, I only know that she's in her late 30's or early 40's, came from M'sia, but has been working in Singapore for quite a number of years already~ heard she's currently living in a rented place, and her family is back in M'sia.. All these I know through my parents, I hardly had the chance to chat up with her.. The only time we would interact was when I pop over to Sheng Shiong to buy desserts.. Haha! She knows and recognises me (even when i'm alone) coz I would sometimes appear at the stall with my parents =)

So earlier today, I went to buy desserts again.. Ah keow greeted me with a big smile and asked about my mum.. Haha! Not knowing how much money I have in my wallet, I happily placed my orders.. And was extremely embarrassed when I realised I didn't had enough money to pay!

Without thinking, ah keow took out 10 bucks from her pocket and told me to take it first.. I told her I can reduce my orders, but she repeatedly asked me to keep the money, and asked me to return her the next time I see her, or my parents could return her next time on my behalf too..

I was seriously very touched.. Touched that someone I barely know, can so trusting and willing offer to lend me 10 bucks.. Not worrying if I'll remember to return her next time, she offered without hesitation.. She is a stall assistant, earning enough just to get by.. But she readily offers her 10 bucks to me! She's a simple lady with such a big big heart~

I took her money, and paid for my desserts.. Haha! But I ran home immediately, to get more cash, so that I can return her asap.. I'd feel very bad if I ever forget to return her =p

Her kind act reminded me that kind souls do exist.. She left me deeply touched and smiling for the rest of the day =) Truly, we need more human interaction such as these going around!
p.s. I will buy more desserts from her next time.. Hee!

Spread the care and concern to all around you! You never know whose day you are going to make!

Let's touch more hearts and make the world a more beautiful place to live in~

A Safety Inspector for a day~

I finally had a chance to have a taste of what it's like being a safety inspector (for a day)!

As part of the orientation package for newbies to the division, we get a chance to tag along safety inspectors on their inspection trips~ I'm not part of the inspector dept, but we were invited to tag along!

It was such an eye-opener for me.. My first time entering a shipyard, and be involved in a meeting with all building engineers and safety officers =p I think I can use my fingers to count the number of females at the shipyard..

Though my colleague (newbie to the division, same dept as me) and I were made to stand and walk around the shipyard, under blazing hot sun and thick overalls, it was not too uncomfortable.. In fact, we enjoyed it a lot! =) partly coz we get to escape office for the day~~

Happy 4th year anniversary!

It's the day where lovebirds and great pals gather~ yes, it's valentine's day! And coincidentally, it's our 4th year together.. Haha!

Not wanting to jostle our way through the crowds in town, Mr Koh brought me to this beautiful restaurant in the east called 'the coastal settlement' =)

Sitting quietly near the coastal area of changi village, this restaurant boasts a very unique decor.. I would say it's pretty interesting as the restaurant seems to have a few themes.. One side of the restaurant has an asian feel, while the other has a more English country feel to it~~~ and the middle? Haha.. Fusion lo =p

Anyway they serve pretty decent Asian and Western cuisine.. haha! I ordered XO prawn alio and Mr Koh ordered his seafood marinara =) not too bad! We had some light bites to go along as well.. Chardonnay + Heineken for the night! Haha..

A simple (not v cheap) and enjoyable dinner.. Haha! Perfect company with a lovely ambience =) so much so that I didn't want to leave =p coz we had a nice corner table to ourselves.. Where we exchanged our gifts for each other.. Both of us received a camera each! Haha.. It was unplanned =p His is a digital lomo camera, while mine's an instant camera! Haha..

Night ended with us having a short stroll along the kelong walk nearby =) thankfully the mozzies didn't leave lovebites on my legs.. Hee!

Happy Valentine's day and 4th year Anni dearest Mr Koh! =) Thank you for the night and lovely gift~ looking forward to create more beautiful memories together - captured on our cameras! Hahaha..

Our first Chingay! (live)

Haha.. Nope, we didn't pay to watch the chingay, but we stood around the barricades for more than 2 hrs to enjoy the procession =) cheap thrill! Hee..

It was free-standing for non ticket holders (us).. Though it was pretty tiring to stand for such a long time, it was definitely enjoyable to catch the parade right before our eyes! Haha.. I remembered catching the parade on TV when I was young~ but this year, we had a fantastic time n felt like we were part of chingay! Haha..

The parade was filled with bright colours and happy faces.. But I'm sure the participants went though months of rehearsals and preparation with much perspiration and effort~ the props and costumes, etc.. kudos to them!

The parade ended with beautiful fireworks! And while others were mesmerised with the fireworks display, Mr Koh and I took turns to pose for pictures with the fireworks! Haha.. Brilliant~~~ =)

Foodie Adventures with Mr Koh!

Been having too much good food lately~ haha! Compared to schooling days, I'm more willing to spend on food now..

Maybe coz ever since I've started working, gd food and fun has become my way of destressing and enjoying life! And of course, it's also due to having more disposable income, that I'm willing to spend more~~ =) life's short, we should all learn to pamper ourselves shouldn't we? Haha..

Borrowing a quote from Daddy Lim, "money is worthless unless it's spent'

That being said, I should watch my weight as I continue my foodie adventures =p *jog jog jog*

18/03 Annual CNY gathering!

Met my jc classmates for a CNY dinner gathering last week! =) dinner was at this secluded 12-inch pizzas and records at V hotel @ lavender! It's actually an outlet of timbre I read, but without the live band.. But it's ok, a nice enough place for a class reunion.. Haha! Btw, they serve pretty gd pizzas~ yummy~~

It's been a long while since we last met~ the attendance was surprisingly good! We had 14 of us, which makes up more than half the class.. Haha!

Topics we talk abt slowly changed~ everyone's out in the corporate world now~ a few high flyers, handful of auditors and bankers, few civil servants~ well.. We've all grown up, one way or another.. No longer little teenage kids prancing around malls or fields~ saw a few girls with the bright twinkle on their fingers too =)

It's hard not to sigh that my youth is slowly slipping away, as i enter the mid 20's phase.. Somehow I still think that I'm a little girl =p A reluctant one that refuses to grow old.... Haha!

Anyways~ cheers and happy cny to class 18/03! Always remember the crazy and fun moments together.. in the cozy AJC, tucked nicely in a corner of AMK =) hee..
