How did you welcome the new year? I'm sure everyone ushered 2010 in their own special way~ Be it staying at home counting down with loved ones, or out partying away.... It's a joyous occasion!
As for me, I chose to have a quiet but sumptious dinner with Mr Koh, Jasmine and Pin Han at the cosy Manna Restaurant at Telok Ayer street, and thereafter squeezing with hordes of people at the esplanade area, waited patiently for the awesome fireworks display to light up the dark sky =)
Been there for dinner few months back and had always wanted to go back there again.. haha.. As usual, we needn't make reservation for that evening as it was usually quiet on weekends / evenings... It was pretty empty that evening, and it was as if we had 'booked' the whole restaurant for ourselves.. haha..
Had a big feast, to bid farewell to 2009... our last dinner for the year =P

We walked from the restaurant to Esplanade area, and the weather was perfect! =) We slowly started to see crowds forming as we made our way to the Esplanade.. Familes and friends started to gather, walking in the direction towards Esplanade.. We had to be fast =P
We secured a good spot right in front of the yellow barricade, and waited for 2 hours before 2010 arrived.. haha.. We were thankful we reached early, coz people started to huddle in soon after we settled down~
It was pretty disturbing to see bad mannerisms displayed by people around us, making our time there a little less comfortable and enjoyable =P But nevertheless, since the new year is coming, we should all forgive and forget.. Shan't let the inconsiderate acts affect our moods.. haha..
We had a good time chatting, taking pictures and snacking... haha..
at around 1145, there was this joker from behind (not sure where it started), who started cheering and shouting, as if something big was happening, which obviously wasnt the case.. and people started standing up, srambling to the front.. We had no choice, but to follow suit and stood for the next 15 mins, until the fireworks shot up to the sky~ We were quite irritated...
However, we were appeased as soon as the fireworks appeared... haha... it was too beautiful~ captivated everyone present, for a good 10-15 mins... =)
The aftermath of the countdown was not as pleasing though... but it was expected.. haha! We were like packed sardines, and it didnt help that some were already perspiring coz of the heat.. It would be nice if there were less people around us (now, that's a selfish thought).. haha..
Though it wasnt the most comfortable fireworks-watching experience... I still love the fireworks.. haha.. Maybe we should explore other alternative venues to watch the fireworks =) Nevertheless, I still enjoy ushering the new year watching the colourful fireworks display...
It's a brand new year! I welcome 2010 with open arms... =)
