Jurong Bird Park

After 15 (or so) long years, I've finally stepped foot into Jurong Bird Park again~ hahaha... Been wanting to go there since long long ago, but due to the exorbitantly-priced ticket, I've put off the idea quite a few times..

But thankfully, through sheer luck, I've managed to get hold of the corporate pass to Jurong Bird Park! YEAH~~ =) What a wonderful month.. haha... December is a month of joy and alot alot of events.. hee! We woke up early on Saturday, and made our way to the western side of Singapore.. Very excited as I virtually had no idea how the Bird Park looked like.. haha... Had nv seen any pictures of the park before, and I can only imagine... We dashed straight to the amphitheatre pool after entering the park, for the bird show as we were informed that a show was about to start...

Not alot of people... maybe coz it was still early.. visitors are still slowly streaming into the park =)

See the trainer and the owl in action.. haha..

Posing with the parrots! Amazing... these parrots are actually free to roam, but I think they like it here.. so they don't see the need to fly away.. haha! imagine, you get food, fame, a home and loved ones all ard.. FOC! no predators at all...
which bird would want to leave? =P

Weiting and Huixian who accompanied us that day~ =)

Beautiful Flamingos standing on 1 leg only.. haha... sturdy legs.. so thin yet so strong.. =P

One of the weird looking birds at the park.. Realised these big and colourful birds with thin legs tend to stay stationary and eyes fixated for a very long time... Don't know what they are thinking abt.. haha! while the smaller birds are more active and have a shorter attention span =P

Nice~ I like the vivid colours...

We continued the walk and saw more kinds of birds along the way...

Birds on water!! hahaha... I love these 'ducks' hee.... They looked so normal and calm above water (graceful infact), but their webbed feets were flapping below water so vigorously, it's amusing.. hahaha... CUTE!

Pelicans~ =) So many of them gathered in one area... haha..

A statue of a green pelican clasping a fish using its beak (or mouth?).. you get what I mean.. haha! I want a bite too............

Continued the trek and we reached the world of parrots!

We actually fed this blue-eyed parrot a leaf from the bushes near the cage.. haha! I hope it's not poisoned or something... =P

Weiting has his own way of communicating with the feathered animals.. haha..

and we walked along...

To the land of AFRICA....

harrassing her hand..

starring lovingly into his eyes.. GAY! haha...

And we visited the world's largest MAN-MADE waterfall... hahaha! It's true... they proudly proclaim~ I've seen this statement around the park quite a few times.. Ok, it' quite nice lah.. haha!

Posing with the waterfall.......

Picturesque!

Posed with the entrance of a bridge leading to another side of the African village..

The whole place is netted, but birds are free to roam in this big big area... Birds found here are smaller than those we saw earlier, but still as colourful.. Guess that's the reason why they need to net the whole aviary, birds here are more precious and rare?

Placed a piece of bread on my palm, but none of the birds were enticed =P

They prefer to eat from plates.. haha.. how civilised =P

And it started to drizzle, then poured... Weiting brought his monopoly card game.. and we had a good time learning how to play the game.. I'm itching for another game now.. haha!

The rained stopped soon~ and we hurriedly carried on with our walk...........

Mr snail comes out after the rain.. I had a good time fiddling with it's ultra sensitive feelers... =P I don't know what you call that.. but ya, it's the two long things in front of the head... haha!

Playing with the recorded 'emu' sounds at the emu area.. They look abit like ostriches.. haha!

right? Abit wet after being in the rain.. haha...

Proceeded to the mini 'Chicken Muesum'... to soak in the air con too.. haha..

We exited the air-con museum and continued walking to another observatory~

It's feeding time... and they birds here are so pretty! =)

Ostriches~~~

Trying to find Mr Eagle.....

How handsome~

We entered another observatory, but this is bigger... haha.. and by then, we could see dark clouds looming..

Stoopid AM, spoil our picture =P

Nice bird! =)

We hurriedly left the observatory and continued the walk, praying that the rain won't fall... haha... It was fast and furious...

It started to drizzle, but we couldn't find any nice and cosy shelter anywhere near us... hahaha... In the end, the raining started falling, and we were 'romantically' stuck in the shelter at the peacock-look-alike den... haha... We sat at the benches for a good 1 hr plus, and it wasnt the best shelter in the park... =P We got sprinkled by rainwater every now and then.. haha..

This was the view we saw for more than 1 hr.. haha.. it was memorable!

We ran to the next shelter available, when the rain got smaller... and found a red bird paradise shelter.. HAHA!

This place was better~ We had more space to roam.. haha!

and observe the red birds...

Rain finally stopped! and we went for the last animal show and the same venue again.. haha...

Father, son and ah ma.. haha... all decked in green! =)

The eagle had this vv cocky look.. haha... hao lian~ =P

Finally, we went to the land of pengiuns =) and it was freezing cold.. goodness!

*brr*

Swimming around happily~ haha..

Call me Captain Lim!

If I'm not wrong, male penguins are yellow at the side of the head, while the female counterparts are just black and white.. no tint of yellow by the side.. haha... pls correct me if I'm wrong =P

With that, I conclude our exciting and eventful day at the Bird Park~ Definitely enjoyable and wet =P haha.... Duno when I'll be back there again... maybe with my kids next time? HAHA.. or when I have free tickets again =)

Bye bye bird birds.... See you all again! =)
